Nooo! Sunday breakfast (and sometimes Saturday dinner) at PMD was one of the highlights of me & hubby's weekends in London. I am gutted.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm thinking I should send them to the owner of Pick More Daisies to show him how much his place is missed.

Hi Des
Cafe World is quite good, although it gets crowded sometimes. Also a Mediterranean place called Piya. But since Pick More Daisies closed, I've been doing a lot more writing at home. Sorry! Good luck with your writing! By the way, this blog is now closed - I'm now at www.andrewblackman.net.

A great response to a great work of literature. I just recently finished reading this book myself, and have to agree with much of what you said. Jung's analysis of the individual of modern society in danger of sinking into mass-mindedness is something in every way relevant to the present. It's enough to hint that the psyche of individual people have always been the same, no matter what era we live in. I also think it is healthy to acknowledge our inherent "darkness" or "evil" tendencies, as it is the safest way to avoid acting on them. I would caution anyone on a search for individual awareness, however, to stay shy of politics until ready to deal with them, because, as Jung pointed out, politics are by their very nature collectivist and will only serve to dilute the self. Again, great response!

Gutted too - tho' I didn't get there. I gave up my job to write full time last year and spend time in Crouch End when in London. I've been looking for somewhere like PMD to write, then go from excitement when you mention it in your writewords interview to (mild) despair on reading of demise. Have you found good alternative?
Good luck with your writing.

That's a terrible shame. I went there a lot...but, admittedly, a while ago, which is probably part of the problem.

Andrew. Appreciations from me too. A very poignant blog article, which has got me thinking deeply, along a new avenue.

Sad, sad, sad! I've been away from London for two months and this is what I find when I get back.

I don't eat out much, so I wasn't a frequent user of this wonderful cafe, but each time I went it was a real treat. I even took my dad when he was staying over last year and even he (who always grumble at restaurant food, 'cos he can do it better...) loved it!

It was the only place I'd ever eat in Crouch End, despite living round the corner, since the Boom Bar (anyone remembers that? Another great place, sorely missed!) closed a few years ago.

Shame :(
